Mercado Village

s2.jpgThe Mercado Village is a small shopping complex situated on International Drive, and designed along the theme of a village. It has a large courtyard in the middle, where you can sit and have a drink, and they have regular free entertainment. The shop units are all individual shops selling various things, mostly aimed at the tourists, but done in a very tasteful way. None of your tacky bargain souvenirs here! The shops stay open until about 9pm, possibly 10pm. There are also restaurants eg. Damons (see restaurant tip), Butchers Shop, Charlies’s Lobster House and Bergamos Italian, not to mention the Cricketers British Pub!! Inside there is an international food court, which is excellent value, and great if all members of your family want something different to eat one evening. There is BBQ chicken, Pizza, Burgers etc, Thai, Chinese. For a souvenir which is a bit different, there is also a unit which takes your photo in sepia in old American costumes and you can have it in the form of a “Wanted” poster !!!!! We really enjoyed a wander around the Mercado Village following dinner!
